Three Hours to Gold from Southern California
You'll learn a lot about finding gold in the desert with Jim Straight's newest book titled, Three Hours To Gold: From Southern California. It is spiral bound and approximately 115 pages in length. There are a number of maps, diagrams, historical photographs, and a color section in the back. The emphasis is on metal detecting for eolian and eluvial placer gold using both VLF and PI type detectors. There is also a great section that covers gold, silver, and tungsten mining between 1910 & 2010 within the famed Randsburg quadrangle and outlying districts. If you have never visited this area of the Mojave you might want to plan a trip next fall. I have made several excursions to the region and always left with nuggets in my pocket. Jim has done an excellent job with this book, and as typical of his publications, it contains a wealth of knowledge. Pgs. 115
