7.5 MINUTE MAPS (1:24,000 Scale) These maps provide the best detail, but cover the smallest surface area. They typically cover about 50 square miles and provide coverage for the lower 48 states. To order these maps you need to know the title of the map that you want to order and in which state it is located. If you do not know the name of the map you can find it on the USGS state index for the state where the map is located. You can also get the information from a search engine on the USGS web site. A link is provided below to that search engine. These maps are printed on wide format color printers from digitized copies of the USGS originals. They are complete copies with all the collar information, and are printed to scale. To order these maps call the Lifestyle Store affiliate that is nearest you or that is located in the state for which you need maps. See the list below for the affiliate nearest you. Don't' know the name of the map you are looking for? To order USGS maps you must know the title of the map you are looking for and the state in which it is located. You can get this information from a variety of sources including the USGS state indexes. For 7 1/2 minute maps you can also use the USGS Geographic Names Information Service on the web to find the title of the map as long as you know the name of some land feature on the map. The feature can be anything from a meadow to a lake or a city. You fill out the search engine form and the search will return the map title you need to order the map.
